It has been reported that NDP leader Carole James has been just diagnosed with a rare form of uterine cancer. The cancer has been caught in its very early stages, and the prognosis of a full recovery is very high.

James will have surgery on the 27th of July to remove the cancer, but does not expect to be out of commission for very long, stating that she is "Upbeat and confident and let's just get the surgery over with and take the time I need to take to recover and then get back to work."

James' cancer was diagnosed the eve before she was set to leave on a camping trip, one that she sstill plans on taking.

"I have been advised that recovery rates for this form of cancer are very high," James said in a statement. "I'm confident that treatment will be successful and look forward to getting back to work serving British Columbians in my role as leader of B.C.'s official Opposition."
