BEIRUT, Lebanon -
Nearly 500,000 pro-Syrian protesters waved flags and chanted
anti-American slogans in a central Beirut square Tuesday, answering a
nationwide call by the militant Shiite Muslim Hezbollah group for a
demonstration to counter weeks of massive rallies demanding Syrian
forces leave Lebanon.

Almost half of the participants in the pro-Syrian demonstration held on March 8th, 2005 were Syrians citizens.
'The Lebanese media said many of the protestors were bussed across the border from Syria to join the demonstration that was designed to strike a balance with spontaneous protests by nationwide opposition groupings crowding the graveside of slain ex-premier Rafik Hariri. Future TV showed bus after bus cross the border from Syria and even interviewed some of the passangers. When asked why they were in Lebanon many said that it was a nice day out, others said that they had been asked to come to demonstrate but were unsure what the demontsration was about. In other cases some people were asked to read out what was written on the posters and banners that they were waving but they were unable to do so stating that they had been given to them by the organizers. '

I looked at your website. You've got some nice photographs. You should post them with this story and show them to the readers here. I think this site is a good place to get yourself heard. I've had lots of people contact me about ths story even though there is only one photo. Hey, if you found it then who else has?. peace, orca
