Corby, North Northamptonshire, is seeing a massive building program with up to 100,000 houses and related services over the next twenty years. Developers have now reached agreement for a new Hotel and complex which the town really needs.

Creating thirty new jobs in a rapidly growing town, developers are stepping up their plans to build a three-star hotel.

As part of a new ten-million pounds leisure complex, which will also include a Wetherspoons pub, Sandringham Investment Properties has applied to Corby Council to build the 86-bed Hilton Hotel in Princewood Road. Town leaders said the confidence investors have in Corby is shown by the hotel.

Chris Mallender, council chief executive said: "This is a better quality of hotel. The demand in Corby is there for all to see. "It's just another show of confidence and another sign of the growth of economic activity in the town."

It is thought the complex will create about 100 jobs in total. It will also include a health centre and a nursery.

It will be a Hampton Inn by Hilton now, even though earlier, the Holiday Inn chain had originally been chosen to run the hotel.

As a tribute to the man who helped to found the town's steelworks, the Wetherspoons pub will be called the Samuel Lloyd and to serve workers on the nearby Earlstrees Industrial Estate, there will also be a small sandwich, pizza and Mexican bar.
