New Presidential Portrait Unveiled at Clinton Library
LITTLE ROCK (Digital Dementia News Services) - The Clinton Presidential Library today unveiled a new art acquisition and portrait. The oil on canvass portrait depicts the former Bubba-in-Chief cavorting with then presidential aide, Monica Lewinsky.
Although the pair are shown in a pose that suggests a degree of intimacy, a spokesman for the former president insists that “the portrait does not show President Clinton having sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.”
The portrait, titled “In the Oral Office”, was painted by Arkansas artist, Billie Wayne Joe-Bob, III and was paid for and donated by friends of the former president.
While crticised by some for being so different in style and treatment than most presidential portraits, the newly unveiled portrait was hailed by many as a refreshing break with tradition. Pundits applaud its bold new style and are openly calling for a similar approach to be adopted in connection with the George W. Bush presidential portrait. Artist Billie Wayne Joe-Bob, III confirmed to reporters that he has already commenced a portrait of George W. Bush in which the President is seen sitting on Cheney’s lap in a pose highly reminiscent of Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob.
The Bush administration has yet to confirm whether Billie Wayne Joe-Bob, III will be commissioned to paint the George Dubyah presidential portrait. Some are said to prefer a more radical break with tradition and propose using a “5-for-a-Dollar” photo strip of George W. Bush taken last year in an automated fun-photo kiosk at the Dubuque County Fair instead of the traditional formal oil portrait.
The Clinton presidential library is home to numerous other memorabilia from the Clinton era. The new portrait is expected to be a hit with tourists and may rival the popularity of other presidential library exhibits such as “the Blue Dress”, “Monica’s Cigar Box” and the “Purple Dick” medal awarded the former president for his valor and bravery shown in shamelessly staying in office after making a fool of himself and disgracing the Oval Office.
Not everyone is pleased with the new Clinton portrait. Critics say that the portrait clashes with the décor used in the rest of the Clinton presidential library. While many admit that the portrait’s style has a formal, almost reverential quality, it adds a certain charm and to the facility.
The portrait will be moved next week to its permanent location just outside the Hooters restaurant that is located within the Clinton Presidential Library.
