New York City Bus Takes Out Scaffold on 34th Street
Just before 5 PM today, a New York City bus jumped the curb on the northwest corner of 5th Avenue and 34th Street in Manhattan, knocking back a 20 foot tall steel scaffold. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident. New York City Police and Firemen taped off half the block on 34th Street to keep pedestrians from walking under the damaged structure and to keep cars from passing too close in case the structure collapsed.
The incident highlights an often overlooked source of injury and property damage caused by negligent New York City bus drivers. Midtown, the neighborhood where today's incident took place, is no stranger to these accidents, either. In 1998, a bus jumped a curb and wiped a phone booth with a man inside it right off the sidewalk near 35th Street and Park Avenue.
At 5:20 this evening, the bus and passengers had been removed from the scene, and officials were redirecting foot and road traffic until the scaffolding could be fixed or taken down.

This is a crazy story! I'm not surprised, though...the amount of scaffolding in that town...
