In the wee hours of Wednesday, a newborn died of hunger and cold in a police station in Howrah as cops turned a deaf ear to the wails and continued to grill the hapless mother.

Wow, how messed up! This, along with excessive police brutality confirms more needs to be done to attract and retain some better quality, more intelligent police officers in this nation. I would expect such everday sad stories in a God-forsaken, corrupt country like Mexico, but this country should have much higher standards.

A very sad commentary on the country of India. Or any country for that matter that allows a child to die because the mother is unwed and interrogating her is more important than the child.
