I presume, since you have ads now all over NowPublic, you will inspire us with reports of income. Obviously whoever contributed the $10 million to NowPublic is demanding a return. So what percentage will NowPublic members get? What kind of criteria will you use?
And what kind of fees can contributors expect from AP? Are you willing to share that with us?
Do you want to inspire us, or .... keep it a secret, or do only 'paid editors' get it ?
If we are wasting our time with this, I'd like to know.
I have done some analysis of situations down here in the New Orleans area, but wonder if I am wasting my time.
Doesn't seem to be an easy way to just post your own story. The only easy way is to 'Highlight' someone else's story, which posters seem to mostly do.

All the details about the inspiring ads are here. Stay tuned for revenue sharing.
And to post your own story all you got to do is go here: http://www.nowpublic.com/node/add/package (the link on the top right of homepage under the masthead).
We do not deal directly with the payment between the AP and Contributor so I don't the exact amount. But it is their regular stringer fees.

The ads are not inspiring, Ryan. I was hoping for inspiration from NowPublic staff. I've already posted a comment under the topic you suggested, which does not have details.

I was being sarcastic about inspiring ads. I don't think that's a priority, but yes, I agree that the content of the ads should be monitored. We have someone working full time on that. We are working out the details of the revenue sharing, it's not a simple matter from a technical and accounting perspective.

Stringer fees can be quite substantial, Ryan, and that alone can be, could be, inspiring! You might post what those fees could be, from minimum to max. That would be inspiring.

I enjoy the "citizen journalist" format of NP for it's variety of articles and writing styles and am happy to see a profit being made for the originators of the site. But, since the ads have come on to the site it has become difficult to enjoy the stories and the authors because the pages are jumping around as I read or write. This is very annoying and has greatly diminished the enjoyment factor of perusing the NP news. Ads are fine as long as they are not disrupting to the readers!

CN would like to see a contributor controlled advertising ethical filter incorporated - to let adverts through that are consistent with content and screen out those that are not.
To have an advert for 'Westjet' coming up persistently next to this story undermines the thrust of the report concerned.
This applies to most of CN stories which tend to be concerned with environmental responsibility and the influences that detract from it.

A layout like this:
http://members.nowpublic.com/user/15931/assignments
is simple and readily accessible by anyone and prioritises the STORIES and their chronology and stats clearly.
This layout
http://members.nowpublic.com/cornwallnews
appears cluttered and contains backroom material such as forum exchanges which are not, to the wider world, NEWS. Shouldn't NowPublic members be able to choose how much of that NotNewsRelated clutter they want around their stories? How about giving NowPublic members tick-box controls to choose which of those features/panels they want to appear on their primary story collection/index page?
CN prefer the first layout as a primary home/story list page.
PS How's the revenue sharing strategy shaping up?

Any answers?

So what's up with the Ads? Notice you still have all the 'placeholders' in place. Trying to fix the problems the ads give the site? Updating the site? Things are beginning to get easier, but the spinning wheel of death still shows on some. Flag this story as good stuff, just posted without letting me add my own take.

I haven't had a problem with any ads or ad 'placeholders' and everything links internally...maybe the ads are gone.

Still a big obnoxious white placeholder in the header, on every page.
