Bugs!
You report 'em, we exterminate 'em.
This site is like a living thing, an ecosystem of symbiotic code. As such, things change rapidly, and not all changes are visible on the front end. All this change means that sometimes things go awry. Each week, your friends on the NowPublic development team line up the most pernicious bugs... and crush them.
Blank pageloads? Erroneous error messages? Malfunctioning tools? We want to hear about it. If you find a bug, you can report it here, if someone else hasn't posted it first.
Also, each week we will be posting a list of what bugs got bashed.
If you're not sure if it's a bug or not, feel free to contact me with a private message.

We're currently experiencing technical difficulties with publishing to blogs... if you're using Highlight, you'll get an error message, though your story will indeed appear on NowPublic. We're working on it, as well as the extremely annoying issue with TinyMCE (wherein the text box will not accept your letters, no matter how nicely you ask)... reloading the page solves this one, but it's a short-term workaround as we work to solve the problem permanently.

Yes! Publish-to-blog seems to be working again, as I was able to add some much-needed content to my own blog via Highlight.

Hi
Publish to Blog isnt working
In firefox toolbar when clicked you can see manage your blog button; but when you click on it an empty page appears.
In explorer you can see a "select blogs" button next to publish. When clicked "add your blog" link appears and when you click an error page appears

Hi Everyone and especially to any and everyone that may be able to fix this! I am using Internet Explorer.
Yesterday morning, April 21, as I viewed my latest article, 'An Evening in Philly with Obama', in Edit mode, it appeared fine, spaces and all. I published. However, as you can see if you go to the page, everything is all bunched together.
I have attempted to add spacing, even deleting the entire story in Edit mode and adding it again. No good. As I reported to Jordan over the weekend, this happened before as I worked on an older story,'A Part of My American Story', as I was doing 'housekeeping', fixing/reinserting links that had mysteriously disappeared, again spacing and paragraphs missing, videos or photos out of sequence as posted. This all occurred at some point before I tried to edit, which is why I was fixing it.
This is the first time the bunching up has occurred when I have added an article. Also, when I posted comments at my latest article, the same bunching up happened.
When I post this comment, I am expecting it to bunch up. There are five paragraphs with spaces between them. Let's see what happens! I hope I am pleasantly surprised!
I'm back! Okay, since it didn't bunch up here, I quickly went to my story and tried to edit to add spacing and paragraphs. No luck!

If you're on a PC, try Firefox. still lots of problems, but....

The cute little 'Add Link' panel has gone from Firefox with all it's added choices, for target and title and type of link. Oh, it's back today. sorry. great.

It would be helpful if staff responded to "contact" e-mail queries, I have had messages ignored and not recieved follow ups when told I would.

Today, before making a public comment disagreeing with a staff member, I contacted the staff member. Despite being on site and available, the staff member didn't bother to reply. So I finally just replied in public. I won't waste my time again trying to give the courtesy of contacting in private.

The freezing text-box issue remains, though it's getting less frequent. We're working on getting that frequency down to "never".

Jordan, I don't know if this will help, but for Mac Users, the Camino browser seems to be working better than Firefox or Safari. I just posted a comment on a story, and it did it right away and returned me to the article. I did use flag and that had been working. Let's see if this works. and if an edit of it works?
Am using Camino now. Worked very fast! If this edit works the same will not re-edit.

Not sure if this is the best place for this question, but here we go. It's not pertaining to a site issue per se, but to the Highlight add-on that I just installed from your site. I used Highlight for a story about the Japanese butter shortages, and everything worked fine (as best I can tell). However, my browser (Firefox 2.0.0.14) now has a blank display in the address bar for every page! Just empty, no "http://www.nowpublic.com", no nothing. This coincides directly with my install and restart of the Highlight add-on so there must be some connection. Anyone else had this problem? How can I get my address bar back?! This is supremely irritating... :(

Hmmm... I've never seen anything like that before, after hundreds of installs across OSX, Linux and Windows. Have you tried uninstalling the add-on and reinstalling? Also, which operating system are you currently using?

Still have problems with the publish or Post Comment command. Page starts to load, and gets the spinning wheel that never stops. And don't know if it succeeded, if you reload, you end up with two posts, and no way to delete the double-post or comment. Notice I'm also getting multiple notices in my inbox for the same post, sometimes up to 14!
But things are getting better, so thanks to the Tech Team!

This morning, my member image was replaced with the standard blank silhouette. It was normal last night.
Note: I just checked my edit profile page, and all my information is missing (except for my personal bio and favorites list).

Hi Jordan,
I was invited to share one of my Flickr pictures. But where's the trackback to Flickr (as mentioned in the approval dialogue)? Without a link back to Flickr, the exercise is not very useful to me.
Why not leave the pictures on Flickr, anyway? In general, I am happy to share my pictures, provided I get a credit and a link back to Flickr and don't have to sign up for a new service.
I also think it's a bad idea to have pictures inherit tags relating to the news item they illustrate. Thus, my picture got tagged with 'SUICIDES', which makes no sense at all.
Kind regards,
Paulus
