Check out our new forums!

Amy Judd

Our new forums are now live and they have a number of great new features for you to take advantage of that are an improvement on our old forums.

There is now a search function that enables you to search for the topics you are looking for and you won't have to go searching through the forums for that previous thread you were writing on.

You can still start a forum topic of your own and the categories will be:

News
Community
Site Announcements
Technical Issues

Archive

Old forum topics will be archived, as they are no longer active, but you will still be able to read them.

However, now you can recommend comments and forum posts themselves, so it's easier to let someone know if you found a reply interesting and helpful, so that it's easier for others to find.

Same goes for forum topics, which is especially helpful when there are a few threads on the same subject, but one contains better tips than others.

We now also have integrated comment threads, which means that when replying to a comment it will place the answer at the bottom but give an indication of what comment you are responding to so that the replies and good comments won't get lost in the jungle of the forum.

You will also be able to view the forum topics by recent topic, recent response, or by how many responses a topic has received, making them even easier to navigate.

We hope you like the changes and please leave any feedback you wish to, below.

Thanks from NowPublic staff.

I'm already finding this easier to use, and it's only been live for an hour.

I'm also dredging through the archives to find some items that are still relevant. They will be added to the new categories accordingly.

Just a question, when I try to find the old Forum post There seem to be gone. Is that so?

NP has still to define adequately for CJists, What constitutes:

- Forum post
- News story
- Opinion

I had a clearly valid Opinion 'vetoed' by NP with no grounds other than a rather arrogant and unsubstantiated claim that my Opinion is a Forum entry?

I expect my post to be returned to Opinion, where it belongs, and clear guidelines that protect the rights of non-paid CJists concerning what constitutes Forum, News and Opinion be made public ASAP, to avoid misuse of NP veto, and build CJ credentials as open, and believable.

I appeal here: Take GAZAMOM Twitter feed off the Gaza page. It's hate, degradation and offensive Tweeting is not News or Forum material. Like my criticism of the hate it blurts and spews, it is at best Opinion.

Amy:

Please help.  My earlier requests of yesterday have gone unanswered.

Someone hacked my page (again) and put a picture of some random girl on my "channel" page next to my lead story (http://my.nowpublic.com/scrivener)

I have NO CONTROL over this picture and can't get rid of it.

As I have mentioned before to several editors, I believe that I (and "duo" and perhaps others here) are being unjustly "targeted" by over-reaching U.S. security/intel operatives who are interfering and malicious tampering with my work on NP.

You may not be able to "see" everything they are doing, because apparently, they insert "spoofed" pages into my internet data stream, in effect hijacking my computer.

However, they also appear to be tampering with page stats, sometimes changing copy, adding typos, putting in synonyms for words as originally written, etc.

This is serious because they apparently are interfering with your ability to communicate with your U.S. members.  I suggest that Mike Tippett file a complaint with Canadian telecommunications officials, because it appears that your business operations are being maliciously interfered with.

In the meantime... can you please take down that picture?  And tell me if there is any way I can police this myself (again, spoofed pages could mean that certain funcitons are being disabled).

Amy, please forward this message to Mike as well.  Thanks.

Hi there,

Jordan has sent you a private message about this. It's not a bug but the way the story is displayed in the list of stories as opposed to the story itself. The tech team are working on a fix for this issue.

Amy
