Any thoughts on putting a donation button that people can use to donate to a particular organization or cause? I would hate to see donations that go through a middle man, but even ebay has ways to donate directly to the Red Cross, etc...Though I doubt anything I have posted could ever warrant tipping, I would love to have a button for donating to a particular environmental or animal conservation effort. NP could even have a page that shows the amount of donations made to certain charities and organizations, provided they are legitimate.

How would that work and where are the safeties? On a North American level of on an International level. Only major Banks and Credit cars, or All Credit cards and Banks. What sort of organisation? National, International, Nationally Registered, or Internationally Registered? NGO only, or all others as well?
Many question need do be worked out first and then a proposal needs to be made to NP.

This is an interesting idea actually - and a welcome addition to my Environment channel I think!
I know eBay does it all through paypal, and that is how our tipping function works. I'm not sure what kind of home it would occupy on a news site though, but something to think about.
