Since changing our new story creation process today, some of you might be having issues with getting highlight to publish in FireFox.

To download our new, updated version of highlight please click on the 'Tools' menu in the FireFox browser, then click 'Add-ons', and click on 'Find updates'. The tool will then update

We apologize for the inconvenience and please let me know if you have any issues with highlight.

Nope, only thing that shows up is from May, 2007 - what we have.

If, for whatever reason, your 'Fox isn't showing an update, you can also download the update from here.

Also, the Internet Explorer version of Highlight has not yet been updated, so, for now, users wishing to Highlight must do so using Firefox.

This needs to be better communicated throughout the membership - perhaps an email to everyone is in order. This thread is buried away....I was pointed to it even tho I searched.

and the upload image does not work either - I have flash, but it says not - I should not need flash. Someone should get sacked over these bugs.

I find that occasionally the Highlight tool seems to hang after I hit preview... however, the story isn't lost. Going to my member page and clicking "Stories, Photos and Videos" shows me the highlighted story, saved in draft form.

Have you ever done a survey of how many people USE IE vs Firefox?  Ignoring the user is not the best way to encourage them.

When allocating development resources, it's best to think not in terms of overall web users, but in terms of your site's active users. Anonymous visitors (the overwhelming majority of any website's traffic) don't get a vote here, since reading is pretty much browser-agnostic. That leaves contributing users... In our case, around 15% of contributing members use Internet Explorer, which is why we focus on Firefox.

Ideally, we'd have equally-supported add-ons for all major browsers, but, since that's not possible, we focus for the moment on what's most popular: Firefox.

I tried using Highlight again this morning and it still doesn't work in Firefox.  When I check the updates it says no updates.  I have loaded and unloaded and loaded again.  The window for Highlight comes up at the bottom and everything works as usual until you hit the Preview button.  Then nothing.  It doesn't go to my profile page either in draft form.  The choice is to do the story over again, all long hand or sign off and play Bejeweled until the frustration level drops.  If it helps -- when Highlight is loading, the digits at the top left hand of the screen read 128(this morning) of 129 loaded.

Hi Barabra - sorry to hear about your frustations about Highlight today - we are looking into it. Can you just let us know what operating system you use? Such as Windows XP for example?

thanks

Hi.  I'm using Firefox and Windows XP.  We just had our computer 'cleaned' so I don't think it's happening at this end.  Our Net connection is Shaw Highspeed.  Thanks for giving this attention.  I want to rejoin the party!
