When I highlight an article, even thou I don't highlight the picture, it gets drawn in. How do I eliminate the picture. Once it is in the article on NP how do I delete it without delighting the whole article?

For the time being: in the text editing box there are several buttons, one of them is HTML. If you click that you will be able to see the pure HTML of your story. If you delete any <img ...> stuff you can remove the pulled in images.
I would try as well in text edit mode selecting the image and pressing the delete key.
