I downloaded highlight, but when I go to publish it won't do it because it says I am not logged in. I am logged in. The window to log in pops up and I put the info in but it still won't do it.

I have windows XP, either explorer 6 or firefox 3. Both do the same thing.
at 11:30 on December 16th, 2008
On Firefox open the preferences and find one called "Accept third-party cookies". If it's not selected, please check it and try again. Let me know if that helps.

Thank you for your reply.Third party cookies is already selected and now public is listed.

I am using IE 6 and XP, and have exactly the same problem on both my machines. It seems to have started just a few days ago. I can't determine why.

Adam: Highlight for IE needs to be updated before it starts working again. Sorry for the delay.
Sara, Moonwolf: I'm trying to reproduce the login problem so I can debug it but so far I've had no luck. Some things to try that would help me understand the problem better:
Thanks for your help and patience.

So this step:
Uninstall HL, restart FF and reinstall HL (http://www.nowpublic.com/firefox/nowpublic.xpi)
Seemed to make a difference?

I have Firefox 3.0.5. I am experiencing the same problem. It goes around in circles saying I am not logged in. Maybe if you can link me with Firefox 3.0.4 download it might help.

The updated FF tool (via the link above) is optimized for Firefox 3.x, but will install without apparent errors for earlier versions. However, once installed in older Firefox versions, its performance will be spotty, if my earlier tests (and user experience!) are anything to go by. I even got it to load in Firefox 1, but it pretty much gave me the finger when I tried to use it!

Jordan / Ian, I've FF 3.05, Vista. I've gotten HL to work by uninstalling and reinstalling. Tnx.
Having problems with PICS still tho, for most of the week. Keeps showing: Server (l0) Error, try non-flash uploader, which I click. After tagging (yuk) & pressing "next" it seems to load ... only to come up ... "No files were uploaded. You need to upload some files before continuing." Only to continue the same when you try again ... same as with HL & login problem.
I have flash, & was able to load PICS till recently.

XP, Firefox 3.0.5: downloaded Highlight, but it still says I am not logged in.

I got an update from firefox today for windows XP, it works now. Internet Explorer microsoft don't let me log in for the highlight tool. I checked some articles look good with firefox, but tables jump around viewing with internet explorer if using 2 widgets.
Second my articles come with photos, pls insert autotagging (like youtube, "I am lazy") It needs me forever now to upload 4 images, tagging again tagging, I don't have the time.at all why should I relate to a tag Iraq, when I am writing about smart grid, well my tags have to be handwritten, to much brainwork.
In general a good widget show, viewers can stay on the same page, slideshow excellent. Most writers however using old computers. Are they able to use this complicated story writing tools?

To stop Highlight from saying I am not logged in I added a tag first before publishing and that worked for me, finally.

I'm still having trouble with Highlight. I use Firefox. Did you know that when you try to reload the highlight feature, going to the 'get started' page, that the "t" is missing at the end of 'highlight' when you scroll over it? When I try to reload highlight it shows 127 of 129 loaded. I think those are the numbers, it goes by quickly.

Hi Marcel,
In the Firefox preferences, under the security tab there is an "Accept third-party cookies" option. If it's not selected, can you turn it on and see if Highlight works then?

Hi Friends,
I have tried everything but the highlight tool is not working for me on IE7 or MF3.0.6 on Win XP.
For IE7 - It keeps saying to log-in though I am already logged in.
MF3.0.6 - I re-installed it couple of times, the nowpublic icon shows up on the toolbar. But when I click it, nothing happens at all. So this is worse then IE problem. There's no preferences tab but i checked under "Tools->Options" and "Accept cookies from sites" is checked and i can even see cookies from nowpublic.
I have tried all the solutions mentioned in this thread before but nothing has helped. So, let me know if you guys can help.
Cheers

Highlight is now only supported for Firefox... when we changed the story creation process, it sort of killed our IE Highlight functionality... to utilize the tool, we should use Firefox.
