How to Highlight Using Internet Explorer (or Any Other Browser)

So you want to create proper blockquotes, but you aren't a Firefox user? We got you covered.

You can create the Highlight code by including the following in a story page when quoting another source:

First type [q url=

then paste in the source, in quotation marks, i.e. "http://www.source-of-your-quote.com"

then a closed bracket: ]

Then paste in the text you're quoting. Just paste it in.

Then type [/q]

So it looks like

Blockquote

The result will be something like:

Jordan is awesome!!!

So what you're doing is:

  1. Beginning a blockquote;
  2. Quoting something;
  3. Ending the block quote.

There. You just did some code. You don't even have to touch the scary-looking HTML button at the top of the text-entry area.

Now, at cocktail parties, you can impress your friends by saying, "That's a blockquote. Act like you know". Make sure to add just a hint of condescension to your voice.

That's so funny.  I'm going to try it.  The cocktail chatter that is.

Note that it's only once published that it becomes a grey blockquote.

I though it had to be done in the source code, but no, works in WYSIWYG view. Exempt you don't  'see-what-you'll-get'

A challenge I'm facing is that my editor doesn't always post online in a timely fashion what's published in print. It's damn hard to highlight anything nonexistent on the Web. Other than citing the source, how do I assure Now Public readers the article is bona fide?
