Dear Administration and tech staff.
First off Merry Chrismas! and thanks for the presents but the packaging has holes, when publish an article its however not the end of the world but is a problem.
The one that stands out is the fact that tags system now has bugs, and its hard to delete a the suggested if you get it wrong. The second is the headline feature I think would better set at 100 charactors and there is a bug there when trying to change and shorten ones headline.
I also had a problem with the upload pictures mainly concerning the new tag feature. I am sorry I have not got the time to completly see the problem but I am sure other members with more time on their hands will help on this issue.
I know its all teething problems and I for one like the new changes and understand its a testing stage. That programmers can not see all the slight errors and need users help in reporting them.
Best Wishes

Thanks for this forum post - I think it will be really helpful for members to share the bugs they encounter all in one place.
Please remember when telling us what problems you encounter to be as specific as possible about what is happening - tell us everything you can. Also, please mention when you tell us, what browser and operating system you are using - for example Windows XP and FireFox version 3. If we don't know these details we cannot replicate the problem and help you solve it.
Thanks!

Was this issue encountered while using the "I've got photos and video" option in story creation?
at 11:36 on December 13th, 2008
I'm wondering why the headline box doesn't accept full caps for a specific acronym like HUD? I've just posted the piece with a title that included "HUD", I tried to use "H.U.D." which turned out to be "h.u.d.".
One more bit about the highlight w/ firefox, whenever I'm in the edit mode, I'd update or save the changes, as NP uploads the changes, my screen would turn blank, which requires me to reload each time. I'm just wondering if I'm doing something wrong?
Thanks.

Regarding all-caps, the fix should be in by early in the coming week.

Jordan,
I am unable to even upload a story. I am using a Vista Basic System - 2.20 GHz Speed...which is really good...The posting page step 1 does not load properly. It shows the Next button while loading but disappears entirely when the page is fully opened - this means I am stuck with the page and no way to proceed ahead.
The past post took me an entire day (which is really frustrating) and now today it's been 3 hours and 15 attempts!
Please help!
Sandy

Firefox or Internet Explorer? Headline and Story body both filled out?
Or are you using the "I have photos & video" option?
at 03:16 on December 19th, 2008
I am using Internet Explorer - Head lines and story filled out and now no Next button to click to progress to the next few steps to publish
the story even is getting cold now :-(
I know you guys are working things out. Heck, you have one tight job to finish! I am not a techno person so hats off to you guys!

Using Mac OSX 10.3.9 and Firefox 2, the highlighter will not load story. worked last week. (Firefox 3 will not work on my OS)
Tried writing it direct on NP, get to Preview and will not progress, says: "X This content has been modified by another user, changes cannot be saved."
spent 3 hours trying to do this story, and NP site is overloading my CPU and causing my Powerbook to overheat.
Thought you got past this. so new things seem great, but too time-consuming (again) and doesn't work.

Hello Amy,
You know i'm always helpfull to NP to improve system, but at this moment i lost understanding for all technical changes that are no improvement at all. Here we go:
1. Uploading photos works slow, cant't find bulk-upload anymore and i have to fill in all kind of fields. Takes too much time. So i stopped with adding photos.
2. Uploading video's is still madness. Why not in a convenient way, instead of searching by tags. (tags should be exactly separeted by , space and how convenient you tube gives word space space word tags.
3. Searching in NP library is a strange adventure. Don't know what names the pictures get in the NP library, but i cant 't find my own uploads.
4. I work on may websites ans NP is still very, very slow. Just opening a page takes more time the elsewhere. Even the RSS is slow.
5. In my opinion NP is loosing very fast the unique position it had before. When i started at NP all stories came from NP members (hihglighted or written) and at this moment NP is changing to a sort of newschannel by members with more and more feeds, scans and twitters from other sites coming in.

That are no sulutions at all, but just a page with complaints about the Highlight Tool.
It never worked for me and as i stated before: may it is better this tool works for nobody. The risk is high to violate copyrights. Better write own stories.

Hello Jordan,
What are you doing? When you are in the technical teams and you need so many questions to solve the problems i lost confidence in the NP team.
It is a bigg mess for weeks already. No fun anymore writing, posting, uploading and commenting. Everything is improved with a technical view. For NP members it is not convenient at all.
I don't understand all your questions. Just start posting yourself, uploading and searching. Just test all possibilities and you will find out it costs a lot of time to be active on NP. I thought NP need members, but when i see all changes it is all technical. Feeds coming in, Scan (whatfor?????), Twits, etc.
Please ask some active members who it should work. Uploading photos was pretty good, uploading videos was hard to do and is now even harder to do.
Success.

I test each tool daily in Windows, OSX and Ubuntu Linux; using Firefox, Safari, IE6 and IE7... I ask questions like the ones above when I hear of bugs that I cannot replicate personally: not every problem strikes every user every time, so I need all the extra info I can get.

Thank you. That is a typical and technical reply. Of course you are testing all day, of course there is some difference by users, but there are no answers to my questions.
Always the same with technical improvements. Here at NP and everywhere in the world with software and application developers. They are always doing there thing. We, users have to understand and the result is worse then before.
What specific info do you need more then: uploading pictures is a hell, uploading video's is a hell, comment making is slow, access to the site is slow, all activities are slow.
How slow? Well when i hit the button Post comment it takes almost a minute !!! I use windos XP en IE 7 also Firefox 3.0. Tried in in Safari and some other browsers. No difference.
In my opinion all technical improvements (feeds, scan, twit and so on) take too much from the system. May be there are too many members for the system. Well, as everybody can see, i lost fun in posting , commenting and uploading.
Now Public moved from very convenient (except video searching) to irritating. Jordan, i hope this will help your mind to switch from a technical approach to real contact with members.
