Dear Administration and tech staff.

First off Merry Chrismas! and thanks for the presents but the packaging  has  holes,  when  publish  an article its however not the end of the world but is a problem.

The one that stands out is the fact that tags system now has bugs, and its hard to delete a the suggested if you get it wrong.  The second is the headline feature I think would better set at 100 charactors and there is a bug there when trying to change and shorten ones headline.

I also had a problem with the upload pictures mainly concerning the new tag feature. I am sorry I have not got the time to completly see the problem but I am sure other members with more time on their hands will help on this issue.

I know its all teething problems and I for one like the new changes and understand its a testing stage. That programmers can not see all the slight errors and need users help in reporting them.

Best Wishes

Bob Johnson-Perkins

At NP-team,

Thanks for not reactiing on my comments. Doesn't matter. I'm just a member who is losing very fast all confidence in NP. Why a forum, when there are no serious answers to questions.

I believe that is a lack of respects for all members who take time to post there remarks and suggestions on this Forum.

Agian, that are no solutions. What is wrong? Why not give real answers? Don 't know who is in charge of technical changes. Should be nice when somebody gave answers.

Sorry to say, but this is like having no respect for members.

I liked Now Public when it had user friendly software a year ago, now I have pretty much given up ever  coming back here, it seems one thing gets fixed to the detriment of something else which goes horribly wrong. All I see are constant software upgrades which seem to make things worse, at least for me.

I do not know why we even have all these changes and upgrades in the first place when the original format in 2007 worked almost perfect.  I am with Milieunet on this one.  I will drop in once a month to try and post a story, if it doesn't work, I will try again the next month and so on.  I have way too much to do in life than try to futility in posting stories on Now Public, I once truly enjoyed doing this at one time, but in the past 6 months, it is now more trial and error, especially on patience wearing thin, in fact patience now gone, perhaps forever, as Now Public contributors are rapidly becoming "Marius Mules" for no other reason than to solve Now Public inadequacies.

Happy New years everyone in the meantime

Ditto, Barry. Ditto, milleunet.

I agree Barry, I have been using NP for a year and a half now and it has never been harder to use than it is now. I have spent the last 15 minutes trying to update a post and am finding it impossible. I too am spending less time on NP as a result of the site being harder to use.

I realize I say this a lot and that it's probably not helpful at this time, but I just wanted to thank everyone for bearing with us during this technical overhaul; we are not trying to make things more difficult, we promise!

We have had a bit of a slow down lately as the technical team are on holidays for the most part, but we are still working on getting the kinks out, but do continue to let us know what problems you are experiencing as the more information we know, the better.

Thanks and Happy New Year everyone!

I am using XP, both on Firefox and internet explorer, say I am not logged in. If I look to my page however I find no a draft. Second tagging pictures needs for ever, why we doing this. A story without pictures worthless. I see the effort of NP to have one of the most advanced writing tools. pictures, comments, videos. A proposal, could we have a simple program in parallel, Article and 2 photos in quick upload, no tags. This way new writers have also a chance. Many software programs do that encouraging a first success. I am happy to find this post, I thought already I am to stupid to use my computer. So a alert over email would be nice to avoid hours of restarting computers.

Happy New Year everyone,

Thanks Jordan for addressing my query re. full caps although I've not tried it, nevertheless thanks.

Thanks also Amy for addressing some of my technical queries since I started at NP.

When I recently tried to upload 4 photos for my article, each has its own description, which I had duly written for each photo and tagged each photo accordingly.  The process took more or less some 20 minutes, because the system had rejected my tags and in the process cleared (deleted) all comments relating to each photo.  I re-tagged each photo, re-wrote the comments, and press Next.  All photos' comments once again disappeared, and the system's error message: the number of characters in your tag is too long.  I repeated the process of naming and commenting each photo and further shortened the tags.  I repeated this process another 2 times. On the final time, I decided that since I've had to re-write and re-name the photos so often, I've even abbreviated my comments - I'd test this process by clearing only the History under Tools - and the photos, sparse comments, and only a few tags - the system accepts the package, at last.  Originally, I thought that by uploading all 4 photos would save some time ...

My point is, would the development team consider expanding character space for the tags and photo titles; whenever each photo with title and tag that is not accepted by the system, then shouldn't the ones that are acceptable be uploaded instead of a whole-package rejection and deletion of all previous entries?

Sorry for a long description, but hopefully, my details will be useful to resolve some of the uploading photo issues for others.

Thank you.  Best wishes.

Strange bug this AM. Came onto NP, without signing in yet, and found another member's name on the topline: 'patgarcia|sign out'. wierd.

Hi Rene, thanks for the heads-up, we are currently working on that one. It's been happening on rare occasions and it should be fixed soon.  Just so you know though it only appears you are signed in as someone else but you aren't actually signed in, the next click should show you as signed out again.

Hi Pythiian,

Thanks for your detailed report and for your patience. We are looking into this issue to see if we can replicate what happened.

To clarify further: this does not mean that the person whom you appear to be logged in as has access to your account- it is not a true login.

(Which means that those people who thought they were jordan-for-a-day could not clear my PM backlog, even if they wanted to!)

I'm confused. I've tried to add a photo, after uploading I enter the tags to continue as per directions, but after I do nothing happens. I back page to the article and a photo widget has been added, but it says no footage found. I using the latest Firefox, in a XP Professional environment.

Thanks, Leon

Well, I knew that.

Now can't use the upload widget anymore. Get to the publish and get the spinning wheel of death.

Just added a story from my profile page. It posted great, but disappeared when I added a photo with a 'no media- found' empty box and no article. Now got two media boxes one with 'no media found' and one with a video from youtube archives. no article.

I took a look at your most recent story, and it appears normal. The photo widget was empty because the only footage attached to the story was a video.

Ah- I typed too soon. I think I know what you mean, though: a widget gets added, and then vanishes while the footage remains attached to the story. That's not good.

Re-did the story with the attached widget, but it is not the original story, just another one.

I have to hand-code and edit each story I post, as the highlighter no longer works.

I get all the way to publish story with highlighter and then the spinning wheel of death.

got other things to do than spend literally hours trying to post one story with one picture.

I'm sure you've lost quite a few cuz of this, except for those with nothing else on their agenda.
