"NEEDS IMPROVEMENT" wrench is a "scarlet letter." How about a private message...

...instead of poisoning the jury pool?

All of my articles here are labeled as "opinion."  The more controversial I get, the more the wrenches seem to pop up. My most recent story was up for a week or so, and suddenly, there's a wrench.  Your heightened attention makes me wonder -- is someone pressuring you?

Please send me your suggestions by private message and TAKE OFF THE WRENCHES, because you are engaging in a "scarlet letter" policy that is going to drive the regulars away -- along with the fact that we can't put ads on our pages to generate revenue.

I don't mind constructive criticism -- but not the way you are doing it.

I've been a happy camper for over a year.  I also generate lots of page hits for NP.  Please don't make me look elsewhere.

A Needs Improvement flag is rarely added because of the subject matter and is almost always put on a story because of things like a lack of highlight, syndicating a blog post on NP, embedding images or using copyright material. Private messages are often ignored and when a poster keeps making the same errors this flag is often the only thing that gets any attention. A Needs Improvement flag also removes content from prominent placement on the site and/or homepage, something a private message does not do. I am happy to help you figure out why you have been flagged and work with you to ensure you are posting in a manner that will stop it from happening. Again, it is not the subject matter, especially in your case, that most often results in this flag.

So tell me how to shed the scarlet letter. Lack of a highlight seems like a weak reason to exercise such scrutiny.  My past two articles got this wrench routine, first time in over a year of posting.  Sorry if I am left wondering whether someone's putting a hammer down or giving incentives or disincentives to gray out a member's stories.

Whatever the reason, it seems like overkill and it's raising questions in my mind.  As I said before, I don't mind constructive criticism but this is not the way to do it.   I want those wrenches gone so tell me how... thanks.
