We've re-designed NowPublic's front page and wanted to give you a heads-up about all the great new features we'll be adding on Tuesday February 10th.
When there is a big breaking story that we feel deserves extra attention, we'll be able to feature it right at the top of the homepage, separate from the other top stories. It will have its own set of photos and videos displayed beside it and the extra coverage members and staff editors are contributing will be gathered in one place.
As a user, you'll have more control over how you view the top five stories on the site and will be able to scroll through them easily and quickly, rather than having to open them up individually - this way you can see more of a story to decide if you want to read it.
We've made space for three "Editor's Picks" so that we can showcase items on the site that we like but feel aren't getting enough attention.
The most viewed photos and videos on the site will be prominently displayed. Below those will be a slot for our most popular feature channels so any news topic that is getting lots of views will be linked right from our front page.
In addition, more of your stories will be shown under our main channel headings. You'll also be able to scroll through recent and most recommended comments.
In the member ranking board, five - not just three - top veteran and rookie members will be featured.
There will also be a space to feature stories that are getting lots of comments, but not necessarily lots of recommendations, so that it will be easy to see what the hot topics of the day are on NowPublic.
We hope you like the changes. Feel free to comment below about what you think!

I like the new front page. The top five story feature is excellent, there is more content on it and the layout is airy and agreeable to the eye. The most popular feature channel idea is also appreciated.
Thanks.
