Paschen - a loonatic??

matte

I ask this question because of his insane comments on member posts about copyright when he is clearly wrong.

I request he be formally warned prior to banning

Matte, I suggest that this post, with its wording,  is a bit of flaming. Write him directly. Write an editor directly. Remember when you were really angry at a NP staffer?

I also recall that you didn't like the idea when you were banned. So why suggest it for someone else? Since you've not only been re-instated, but also have accepted a cyber-hat, it seems that you must be happier here now yourself. And that's good.

It is my opinion about his comments which are factually wrong - just because there is a small quote in a  story does not mean it is a breach of copyright. So his assertions are insane - no flame there!  He is not a staffer, only posing as one and he is totally out of line with his comments because they are plain wrong. Others have been subject to it also.

Note I suggested a warning to him.

This forum is the way to bring it to the attention of the editors, so that is what I am doing.

Oh I have always had a cyber hat, I got it after I handed back by cyber-gold crown when I became disillusioned with the then expectations by NP of using spam methods in recruitment

Hey Matte! How ya doing? OK, a difference of opinion here--I think that telling someone that I disagree with them on something, or that I believe that they're factually wrong is very different from calling them a "loonatic" or "insane." That's just me, though.

I don't quite know what "posing as  a staffer" means. Pretty sure I don't want to. I just figure that if NP is about "crowd power" then the crowd gets to speak up. Yea, I know there's always a few suck-ups in everything, a few "wouldn't agree with anything anywhere no matter where I was" types, but on the whole, I think the "middle crowd" of NP is pretty groovy. I'd hate to see us get shut down any more than we already have been by de-hattings, bannings, staff avoidance of material for flags if you've po'd someone, all the big and little bits of punishments. Then again--I'm an American, we get feisty about freedom of speech. I just don't do well when it goes personal and into name-calling. Issues, yes. Disagreements and debates, oh yes. But attacking others--not my cup of tea.

I don't think bringing things to the Forum is a way to get staff attention--did you miss the huge threads on copying and pasting, etc. etc? But good luck. :)

Ahhh, you've had an adventurous life here then--gold crown, cowboy hat, banned, cowboy hat.  I've declined the cowboy hat, I guess it was the consolation prize for the former crown? I dunno. (heh heh-shrug) I travel under threat of being banned, so le chapeau doesn't make any difference. Besides, even though people know I'll always speak my mind on issues, right now I think that not having a hat makes it clear that I'm completely independent, as I always have been but I think that some didn't quite grok. That's just my little thing, though. For right now, works for me.  ;}

No I try not to waste my time while here other than doing a bit of highlighting my posts on that blog and checking the formatting

Thank you Matte. You do have a great choice of words I must say.
