Story disappeared into the ether .... Grrrr

I just wrote a lengthy article on child slave labor in China.  When I clicked on "preview" the entire story disappeared.

Is there anyway to retrieve it - it's such an important article.

Are you referring to Child Slave Labor in China? i.e. Is that the same story you originally posted, or is it a "do-over"? Please PM me with details.

Hi Jordan,

Luckily I had a local copy and could post it again.  I had made some changes on-line which weren't in the local copy, so it was difficult to reconstruct - but an hour later I think I got it right.

It happened today also with my story on Exotic Diseases - same thing as I hit the Preview button.  It's SO frustrating.  It doesn't happen all the time, so it's difficult (for me at least) to work out why it happens at all.

Any assistance would be gratefully accepted.

P.S. If it helps, I use the latest Flock for my browser and my OS is Windows XP SP3

I notice a blockquote in the story you're mentioning: was this inserted manually, or did you attempt to use Highlight in Flock?

(I say "attempt" because, while some versions of Flock will accept HL, it doesn't perform reliably outside of Firefox)

Hi Jordan,

I distrust the Highlight tool - I've lost too many stories with it in the past.  I hand code the

Insert story quote
which seems to work much better for me.

For what it's worth, I haven't lost any stories since reporting it here.

But wait!  There's more! ; )

I carefully described all the movies and photographs after uploading, and while the movies and photos uploaded ok - all their descriptions had gone!

My forehead is so sore from banging it on my desk!

Thanks for any assistance Jordan.

I'm pissed. I just lost one. Definitely  a forhead banger.

Check it out: your member page shows it ready and waiting as a draft. (Note: non-leonbrooks members won't see the draft, but only the already-published stories)
