Who Closed "Comments" Section of My Story on "Fusion Center Spying"???

Scrivener

This message has suddenly appeared on my story, "Gov't Fusion Center Spying: Pretext to Harass and Censor":

"This story was created over 3 months ago, the comment thread is now closed."Have I been hacked?  Apparently.  Stories a year old generate robust comments still.NP, please help me fix this malicious hacking.  And please file a complaint with Canadian authorities. I believe U.S. surveillance operatives are doing this, although I cannot prove it.

This topic is part of the archive and has been locked.

Addendum:

ALL of my comments sections on stories over 3 mos. ago have been closed!

This is unacceptable.  It appears to be a HACK.  Please fix this... or are my pages being "spoofed" on my end, so that NP cannot see the hack?  Please give this your immediate attention, thanks.

NP was flooded with SPAM Comment last week on some older postings wish caused the comment thread to be closed.

Please give some links as examples and PM an STAFF Editor with regards to this problem.

Tina had a Forum post out on this as well explaining what happened to wish you replied with a comment.

This is not a hack. The comment threads on all stories older than 90 days become read-only, due to the aforementioned spam problem, which is actually worse than most users realize. Almost all comments added to older stories need to be deleted, and the resource drain was too great: the site is maintained by humans, not bots, and those humans must wear many hats at once.

I realize that this affects a few stories that get legitimate late-stage comments, for which I apologize, but we cannot commit the content team to that level of hands-on spam management for any longer- it just wasn't scalable.

This is terrible news.  While my comments sections are often spammed by disinformation agents, some anonymous readers have left me very valuable info and the comments have provided an ongoing forum to discuss the story topics.  I often revise and update my stories.

By the way, the revisions are supposed to elevate the story to the top of the queue on my channel page, but this no longer happens for my "GESTAPO USA" story, which apparently is the target of malicious hackers who know how to intercept and spoof pages (you can surmise what entity I suspect is doing this).  Can you help with this?

I value NP and I also believe that the fact it's based in Canada makes the site somewhat less susceptible to malicious actions on the part of U.S. government surveillance operatives who harass those they deem to be "dissidents" (anyone who dares to express views and opinions critical of warrantless surveillance, the military/intel/security complex, etc.).

I would ask that you rethink this comments policy please.  If there is no mechanism for an onging dialog with readers, I may need to start posting to another site along with NP (I would not abandon NP because it has proven to be a good home base...)

Jordan, please take this up with Mike Tippett.  Thanks as always.

"scalable" sounds like a word that only a government apparachik would use!
