I know I presenting the idea of drafts in the last meeting -something NP is thinking about.
Additionally, I know the question came up about having the ability to flag if a story has a major or minor revision; so that those who are honestly editing a story won't get bumped up on the list. Drafts partially solves this problem, but not completely.
Personally I would like to see the option to create a draft before I could select major/minor...simply because I think I would take notes on NP and save them to compile into a story later.
On the same topic, it would be nice to add a "date" to the story form. Even if we are posting a story that is one day old, it would be nice to note that in the story. Also, there are times where some people will just not be able to post a story asap; it would be nice to backdate something. I can't think of any negitives on the topic of backdating, but I would like to hear some.
(add): I did just realize that backdating could also be something we allow people to request vs. allow at time of posting. It still would be nice to do it on our own.

Yes I like the idea of dating a story - otherwise it can be hard to see just how recent it really is. This could also mean that more recent stories have precedence over other stories that may have had more views, but are less timely.

WE are actively engaged in a discussion on this, Matt and BD. This also links with our new notion of newsgroups - with stories that are collectively produced and therefore need a sandbox in which to prepare them. I promise to keep you posted.

One issue on collective stories, coordination etc is keeping an awareness of the volunteer editor's time.
I think we need to be remembering we are like teachers marking papers - we have about 15 seconds on each story...so moves to cut the dumpin by contributors of all and sundry sorts of contributions needs to be urgently addressed. To ignore the rubbish is not the answer...that does not work, we still need to wade through the muck to find the gems.
Lets get the story posting rules and regs up to the world, lets really raise the bar for quality content, but acknowledging that it cannot be all done through human manhours.
