Using Highlight to Plug into the NowPublic Network

Once the story you created using Highlight is live, you can tap into the collaborative newsgathering power of the entire NowPublic community. Whenever other NowPublic contributors add eyewitness reports, images, or video - these contributions can enhance your postings.

You probably have visited Wikipedia, Yahoo!Groups and MySpace, and have a pretty good understanding of what they do. At NowPublic, we're creating news along similar lines. In this new universe, we're all newsmakers, and better yet we can collaborate with others to make the news we pass along more complete. And Highlight magically connects us.

So if you want to collaborate - meaning, if you'll let someone add footage to the story you started - you can, and we guarantee it'll be both fun and safe.

However, if you're not at all interested, and want full editorial control, you got it. The stories you add to your blog through Highlight remain unsullied, and will get all the exposure NowPublic can provide. But once you wrap your head around collaboration, you'll realize your collaborators start spreading the word about your story, and they might tell their friends, etc. etc. It's like a totally legal pyramid scheme that actually helps society.

To get a deeper understanding of how to connect with other newsmakers and what our community values go here. Or you can just do it: go ahead, make your news Public, Now.
