Next Media just started in Banff, Alberta.  Here is how day one is described on their site:

"The first day of nextMEDIA will illustrate how social networking
around content presents a valuable opportunity for you to leverage the
engagement of digital communities to expand your content properties and
operations. Web 2.0 luminary Stewart Butterfield co-founder of Flickr
kicks of the day with a keynote address examining the relationship
between Community, Content and the Bottom Line. His keynote theme is
expanded by a closer examination of the tools and trends in social
networking on the panel ‘Social Networking - The Value of Connecting
with your Community. Complementing this discussion, the first panel in
the afternoon entitled ‘The Audience you don’t know’ provides an
opportunity for you to get into the minds of your future audience by
examining the characteristics and behaviours of active digital
community participants. The final panel of the day Show Me The Value:
Funding and Valuing Digital Content provides detailed analysis of the
value, financing models and distribution models around multi-platform.
The day concludes with a $10,000 pitch competition where leading new
media designers from around the world have five minutes to pitch their
short form multi-platform content ideas. While this is going on don’t
forget to attend the digital delivery briefings to find opportunities
to license your properties and attend an interactive exchange session
to begin a business relationship.

Introduced by
