Nigel Tomm Talks to the Readers About the Drinking Rumors
This morning, eccentric writer Nigel Tomm talked at his new book's Nanodrama Not Nanofiction signing about the constant rumors that he has a drug and/or drinking problem. I watched him myself and for the first time in a while, Nigel actually appeared to be awake, alert and pretty clear headed. Either Nigel took a break from his normal "breakfast" or his PR team did a stellar job helping him to prepare those rehearsed lines. After a few moments of chit chat, some man from the crowd dove right in and asked Nigel about one of the scandalous book signings in which he clearly appeared to be intoxicated. Nigel quickly replied, "I've never been drunk in my life. I've never been drunk in my life. I've never been drunk. I'll have an occasional sip of beer, wine or a drink that has an umbrella on it. I've never been addicted to pain killers. Pain killers don't work for me." Come on, isn't this the same information that Anna Nicole Smith used to try and feed the media? Why did Nigel feel the need to repeat his statement three times? In the words of good old Shakespeare, me thinks the man doth protest too much. Nigel Tomm is famous for two things. The first is the discovery of the phenomenon of literature's remixing, which was developed in his books Shakespeare's Sonnets Remixed, Shakespeare's Hamlet Remixed and Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Remixed. Secondly, in his book Nanodrama Not Nanofiction he has introduced the new literary genre - nanodrama. Nanodrama is drama characterized by its extreme brevity, as measured by its length in words, nanodramas are between 0 and 19 words long. Despite their briefness, they nonetheless manage to fully convey themes, ideas and conflict. |
