No, it's not over yet: As the "elected" government moves to cement its legitimacy and other nations slowly acknowledge the tainted election results, a host of civil groups have banded together to demand a legitimate poll, on pain of "mass [public] action".

Coalition of Civil Society Organisations have given the Federal Government a 10-day ultimatum to cancel the just concluded general elections, or face mass action.

The coalition, which is made up of 35 civil society organisations vowed that no amount of intimidation from the government and its security agents will deter them from mobilising to protest what they described as "murder of democracy and the power of choice of the Nigerian people."

Members of the coalition of 35 civil society groups, led by president of the Campaign for Democracy (CD), Dr Joe Okei- Odumakin, stormed the Onikan stadium venue for the celebration of the Workers Day in black clothes and black arm bands.

Odumakin, who is also spokesperson for the coalition, told THISDAY that the group was fully resolved to take to the streets and protest the irregularities.

Egoigwe,

Do you foresee this move leading anywhere, that is, will it really work?

It all depends on the magnitude of the outrage ... and Nigerians ARE outraged by the elections. Sometimes too, stuff like this start as a trickle and grow into a tsunami of sorts. While I may not be one for civil disobedience, I do salute their courage and resilience in the face of this gargantuan atrocity and clampdown ... because in truth, that's what it is-an atrocity that bears far-reaching consequences.

Besides if the govt thought it was all hot air and no momentum, why clampdown on public protests?
