NP Rank:
No call to make fun of Pahrump hospitality
Dwayne just sent me what's called a "YOUTUBE" link and my blood is fairly boiling.
Some college snootynoses on scooters from somewhere back east (Chicago) think they are so superior to families from Pahrump - well, they have another thing coming. If you want to watch it go ahead. They make friends with a guy in a tavern and he brings them home just to be nice, and the next thing they are kind of sniggering around like they are superior.
They call them selves Scoot Stars and travel around on 29 m.p.h. scooters and make fun of people - that's not my idea of American values. Dwayne says what can you expect they don't even have proper motorcycles. That's about the size of their manhood, he said (those are his words, not mine).
But it's apparently popular on YOUTUBE and so I had to go watch it. Here's how these bores describe themselves:
"Josh and Peter, ride their 49cc scooters across the United States. The
Scooters max out at 29mph forcing the riders to see America at a snails
pace. They will camp out or depending on whom they meet, stay at
different places all while filming and uploading videos for your
viewing pleasure."
Well it's not for my pleasure and I would appreciate it if you would go and complain to the YOUTUBE brass and let them know what you think. In the Pahrump Valley I am Thelma Jesselman on Nowpublic.com and reporting.

Thelma, I understand how you might feel a bit upset by this but I do not think the producers meant to annoy. In fact I suspect they are engaging in a bit of post-modern deconstruction of the genre - and making a bit of fun at their own expense.
The production comes from an outfit called InTransit. "InTransit is a reality based travel series that follows most triumphant dudes as they travel to and through exotic locales by unusual modes of transportation. Unscripted and unusual, the series focuses on the journey, more so than the destination."
I do appreciate that you used the "Opinions" tag. However, you also put in a tag that is probably not too helpful: "college boys think they are better than us". This is not really a tag, Thelma. Tags are usually single words that convey the kinds of categories that help people to search out what they are looking for.
Please have a look at our News Values to get a better sense of how you can make your stories better.

I do not have to take your smug lectures, mr. actual news person. I know what's behind this sort of thing. Pahrump is always being made fun of on account of its name and because it is not Las Vegas. Did you know that Jimmy Carter's wife Rosalyn Carter was here last year? You can see that on YOUTUBE too for your information. Now why do you suppose she would come here? Certainly not to make fun of us.

I just watched the video and gotta say think Thelma is right on this one...sanctimonious college brats is what occurs to me. And Thelma even though we don't see eye to eye on most things, if you wanna go ahead and use tags like "college boys think they are better than us" go right ahead. Looking at the NP Code of Conduct it says nothing about tags like this. Don't let anyone push you around in Parump!

Sorry guys I did not mean to come across as preachy. Thelma, please feel free to use any tags you want. We're here to help, not to boss people around!

maybe you saw something that i didn't. like the snickering and better-than-us attitude. there was none. hell, they bought everyone there a beer, and then hung out with the guy at his house.
you're an opinionated troll with nothing better to do than to use established internet personalities to get attention for your own poorly formed opinions. your statement was broad, with no substance, and i challenge you to point out anything in the video that could possibly be considered snobbish or stuck up. they even said 'thank you, pahrump' at the end of the video.
clearly your town has nothing better to offer than a small bar and a blogger who makes up reasons to be upset with the interweb.
good luck with your blogging. hope you get a clue.
