Commercial Drive was closed to vehicular traffic between First Avenue to Venables Sunday for its Second Annual Car-Free Festival. Thousands jammed the street to celebrate East Vancouver's vibrant cultural heritage. Some were still there at sunset. Market stalls presented everything from scarves and watermelon to magic pizza ovens. Barbeques were kept busy while sidewalk diners quaffed the odd foamy. There were psychic readings and an Indian head massage. And if you wanted to boogey, Graveley and Commercial turned into a DJ's dance floor. A good time was had by all.
