A special prosecutor is recommending that no sexual assault charges should be laid in connection with allegations that underage women in a B.C. polygamist community are being forced to marry older men.
The prosecutor's report, done at the behest of B.C.'s Attorney General Wally Oppal, concluded there was no point because the witnesses would be reluctant and unreliable.
B.C. Attorney General Wally Oppal will release the report later this morning, the Vancouver Sun has learned.
Oppal is considering a recommendation in the report which advises the province to send a reference case to the B.C. Court of Appeal.
