One man is dead after his light aircraft crashed into the sea off northern NSW late this afternoon after apparent engine trouble.
The man was belived to have been the only occupant.
The crash, which occured at 5.30pm saw the twin engine plane come down just 100 metres offshore.
Witnesses say they thought he was trying to make an emergency landing.
While the victim was belived to have been the only occupant, police were still search the crash site late this afternoon.
