AP announces ad-supported mobile news service

"Mobile News Network will launch this summer. The ads will be local, but AP will do the ad-serving. This story was written up in some news outlets as an iPhone story, hovever, several phone manufacturers are working with AP to carry the news service. There are plans to follow it up with a video news "product" too.

Associated Press announced Monday it will further cut fees paid by struggling newspaper members and will develop an advertising-supported service that will deliver stories and photos to advanced cell phones, including the iPhone.
