Well I have always had a love of craft , scrapbooking, cards etc.

In 2007 my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer . She was given less than 12 months and I was devastated, a few months later whilst on a special family holiday, that we as a family would cherish my dad had a brain haemorrage. He needed life saving emergency surgery in which he pulled through. A few weeks later the haemorrage returned so the operation was repeated. He has recovered fairly well for his age (Just turned 80) but not 100%. As for my mum well she is still here 2 years on, but the cancer is growing. She seems well at the moment, but one day she won't.

With all that to cope with and a husband who is going blind I guess you could say I needed to have something to help me cope. So I started cake decorating college in Sept 08, having no previous experience at all! ( well apart from learning Victoria Sandwich at school!! ). I am learning all the time in this wonderful world of cakes. To be able to stand at look at your completed work & look at your own 2 hands and say "wow I created that!" is an amazing feeling. Seeing family & friends delight at what you have made for them is priceless.

sAmazing how you can lose yourself for hours creating a special cake, but its my therapy & help alots. My parents get lots of cakes, espeacially my mum as she loves swans & I make Royal Icing swans to decorate her cakes with, they love them.
