Rick Alarcón was born in 1981 in New York, the fifth child of six. He attended Dartmouth College in 1999 and received a B.A. in Film and Television Studies. After college, he moved to Paris, France in 2004, and attended The International Film School of Paris for his Master's Degree in Direction and Production.

Rick's focus in photography deals mainly with photojournalism and documentary, though he has partook in the fashion, commercial, and artist side to the craft. In 2007, he started a graphic design company named Chez Créatif, with Joseph Case. At the moment, Rick is currently working on a photographic project entitled, "A Silent Shout, " dealing with protest-culture, war, and conflict across Europe and the Middle East. He currently resides in Paris, France.
