Sankar Sarkar started of as child photographer in 2002 when he was 14 years old. It began with a project run by Suvendu Chatterjee of imparting knowledge of photography to the underprivileged children from different parts of Kolkata. The project ended in three years time, but Sankar had, by that time, set his heart and soul in the pursuit of photography. He thereafter joined Drik India a media organization based in Kolkata, directed by the same Suvendu Chatterjee. Today Sankar Sarkar's life revolves around photography, his passion and profession. Sankar is also a very tech savvy person having an acute preference for the digital. He is in demand whenever there is a shortage of ideas to mend or develop a new digital gadget, both within Drik India and outside. At Drik India he presently works as an in house photographer as well as a photo-developer, scanning, retouching photographs and maintaining the photo library.

Sankar’s photographs have been critically acclaimed by renowned photographers like Dr. Shahidul Alam. His works have been exhibited in Bangladesh at Chobi Mela, the bi-annual festival of photography and in several venues in India.

Now Shankar is working in Bangladesh at Drik Picture Library Ltd. Through Fredskorpset South South Exchange Program for 10 months.
