July the first is our country of Canada’s national holiday/birthday party, once known as “Dominion Day”, now simply called “Canada Day”. However, for Ontarians, and those citizens in other provinces...

About jakesylvester1

I love to write, it being part of my previous career. I want to transition into a writer, not necessarily a journalist. I think of myself as very verbose, both in my writing and my speaking; thus the short, direct prose of a journalist is quite challenging for me. My sense of humour is very sarcastic--I inherited this from my father although I didn't recognize it until lately. But I love this site and the opportunity it provides to learn from others' skill and creativity, and from my own writing mistakes. So please provide me with feedback. But it appears as if everyone has revved up their engines and are working faster than the speed of light, almost producing a story immediately before the event happens. I admire that--it's not something I can do. (But then again, I never thought I could use Photoshop on Flickr.!) I wish now that I had been introduced to this site quite a lot earlier. I have been a church pastor for 20 years, but am not at present. Over those years I have written approximately 1,000+ sermons,
curriculum for adults, teens, and children's study, a dozen (puppet) plays, and been published in a local newspaper about 25 times over seven years. I am a grad of the University of Western Ontario (B.A. English/French); Tyndale University and College (B.R.E.) and Heritage Baptist Seminary (M.T.S.) I know the chances are quite small, but I am writing a book at present, with the hopes of it being published one day.
