I love to write, it being part of my previous career. I actually was a Baptist pastor for 20 years (please don't hate me for it!) I am the father of three kids: Bethany who is 25, Kailey who is 21, married and a university student, and Benjamin, who is 17 and in his final year of high school. I have a twin sister who is about 1/2 hour older than me. Currently I am caring for our 94 year old mother, living with her since my wife and I separated. I want to transition into a writer, not necessarily a journalist. I think of myself as very verbose, both in my writing and my speaking; thus the short, direct prose of a journalist is quite challenging for me. My sense of humour is very sarcastic--I inherited this from my father although I didn't recognize it until lately. But I love this site and the opportunity it provides to learn from others' skill and creativity, and from my own writing mistakes. So please provide me with feedback. But it appears as if everyone has revved up their engines and are working faster than the speed of light, almost producing a story immediately before the event happens. I admire that--it's not something I can do. (But then again, I never thought I could use Photoshop on Flickr.!) I wish now that I had been introduced to this site quite a lot earlier.
