NY Post: Warren Buffett fires granddaughter

AN infuriated Warren Buffett
has renounced one of his granddaughters - telling her she is no longer
his relative "legally or emotionally" because she took part in a
documentary about the lives of the very rich.
Nicole Buffett, the adopted daughter of Buffett's son Peter and biological daughter of Peter's ex-wife Mary, was featured in Jamie Johnson and Nick Kurzon's
documentary, "The One Percent," which debuted at the Tribeca Film
Festival this year and is a follow-up to Johnson's "Born Rich."
Enraged that Nicole not only participated in the documentary, but also
plugged it on National Public Radio and "Oprah," Buffett wrote Nicole
an "angry letter" two weeks ago telling her she was no longer part of
his life, a source tells Page Six.
Buffett wrote, "I have not
emotionally or legally adopted you as a grandchild, nor have the rest
of my family adopted you as a niece or a cousin."

Buffet's adopted granddaughter is just as much a member of his family as anyone else. Certainly she has issues, but how cold hearted does this old codger have to be to devastate her so such a degee? To treat her so rudely is a shame.

Just because you have made enough money to control your world doesn't give you the right to abandon a grandchild. A child that has been adopted by your son is legally considered a grandchild. Did you wake up one morning angry and say to yourself, "hey, I'm going to write a letter to my adopted granddaugther and tell her that I never really cared for her. And she wasn't my grandchild until she was 4 so she was someone else's and not mine really. I'll save billions when I die if I go ahead and disown her. That is a great business move."
Warren Buffet, you sir are a piece of crap and I now am putting a guaranteed curse on you and your money. The majority of your wealth is going to be absolved by all of your businesses failing and hyperinflation will destroy your cash holdings. Sorry, but you did this to yourself.
Sincerely.

poor judgement aside, and without considering 'Grandpa's' lack of actual emotional connection to his granddaughter... if she's plugging this movie, she's looking to cash in on her family - which could also be looked on as crass. So if he's disowning her to save money, it's sort of the other side of that same coin, no?

At first, my thought was the same - what in the world could be so bad that WB would disown his granddaughter? But after reading the article she was featured in for Marie Claire, I can't help but think, why is she complaining??? WB PAID for her college, which he did for all of his grandchildren . . . and college was the agreement (I'm friends with one of WB's other grandkids & that's all they got, too, an education to make something of themselves) - no more. But she keeps holding her hand out and whines when she's refused . . . disowning may be a bit extreme, but it's his money, not hers! And it's not like WB is going around and lavishing any of the other grandkids with cash & gifts, they've all been treated equally. For her to go behind his back to make this docu without so much as a heads up to Buffett, I can understand how that crossed a line for a family that keeps their profile low in their hometown.

She needs to make her own money, I mean he gave her the means to. He is entitled to spend his money in any manner he desires, after all how did she contribute to him making it. Its not like she is his wife or something. I support him all the way, maybe disowning her may have been a bit too far, but she also went too far by exposing the family in a movie for a quick buck. $40k can take you a long way.

oh c'mon people, ms.nicole buffett is 30 yrs. old or so... she shouldn't be whining 'bout her grandfather not giving her any money... mr. buffett worked hard for HIS money and he has every right whatever he wants to do with it. she's so blessed that even if she was ONLY adopted mr. buffett paid for her college and i do believe that having to carry the last name buffett is so much of a blessing, people recognize her and some buy her paintings for that reason alone. and pls. she's living on a $40k or so budget a year, she's way spending too much to say that she can't afford a health insurance. grow up ms. nicole buffett.

He worked hard for his money and its his choice what to do with it. If she worked for him she should abide by his rules. If not get a new job baby. Don't we do that? just becasue she is his daughter doesn't give her right to so anything.

Does a connected, real and close family work out emotional situations and relationships like this? Sounds like this girl is doing a string of self promo PR! I read that Nicole was adopted when she was 20 years old. Ok, that's odd. And Nicole's mother Mary, after her divorce from her husband, started putting her name on business books and doing lectures declaring she was some kind of conduit to Warren Buffett's genius.
Seems like shameless self-promotion by association. Nicole's mom Mary has had drug and alcohol problems for years and her own son, not a Buffett either, was legally taken from her. Hey Page Six - What might be A REAL story here ?
