The humble office laser printer can damage lungs in much the same way as smoke particles from cigarettes, a team of Australian scientists has found. An investigation of a range of printer models showed that almost a third emit potentially dangerous levels of toner into the air.

NotPhil, this could explain why people who've never smoked get cancer. I mean the shear pollution in the air is enough, but all these other environmental aggressors are also harmful.

Corporations manufacture lots of carcinogens, which we all end up being exposed to. Tobacco is just one of the naturally-occuring ones that we noticed causing disease back in the '30s.

NotPhil, i could never imagine that particles come out of the clean looking laser printers. They look so spotless not like ink jet printers, but as they work with solid particles that are burnt onto the paper suddenly all makes sense. Good stuff.
