Fort Henry is located in the City of Kingston, in Eastern Ontario, centrally located between the cities of Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.
Old Fort Henry is a 19th century British military fortress, and provides you with an opportunity to see what British garrison life was like during the year of Canada's confederation.
The current structure dates from the 1830's and it protected the naval dockyard at Point Frederick, the entrance of the Rideau Canal and the town of Kingston.
Fort Henry was used by the British Army until 1870 when Queen Victoria's troops were pulled out of Canada. It was used as an internment camp for political prisoners during World War One, and a Prisoner of War camp during World War Two. The fort was restored in the late 30's.
