David Kilcullen is a counterinsurgency theorist who is currently a senior adviser to Gen David Petraeus.  At the blog of Small Wars Journal, a series of posts (here, here, here and here) in which officers and other participants  "from the field" comment on Col Kilcullen's Twenty-Eight Articles: Fundamentals of Company-level Counterinsurgency (pdf).  Some stuff I don't pretend to understand but a worthwhile look into what is really going on in Iraq.
