USSR - Kid Nation
As some of you may know CBS has a new show called Kid Nation. It’s premise is that they want to find out what will happen when you let kids (ages 8-14) run their own town for 40 days. Would they be selfish individuals like adults are or would they cooperate and work to be a better life? Just your ordinary leftist bilge that you are used to but with running noses this time.First off, lets get something straight: the kids are not just left to their own devices. First, the camp had four kid leaders forced upon them, which I don’t get because if you are going to have kids run the camp why not have the kids run the camp? The kids, it seemed, were all these pasty white kids who had liberal parents. Phrases like “revolution” and “cooperation” were heard. Socialist philosophy dripped from this show’s pores.
To reinforce the capitalism bad socialism good theme the show has going on they broke up the town into teams and had them do a competition to see who got to do what. The team that came in last would be the “laborers” and the team that came in first would be the “upper class.” Depending on which group you ended up in you would get different wages. The kicker was the fact that the “upper class” would get paid the most without having to do any work. Just like it is in real life, liberals tell me.
Kid Nation’s whole purpose is to destroy the idea of capitalism. That’s it. You get a bunch of kids from public schools who’ve been taught leftist rhetoric since they were in diapers and try to reinforce their economic lessons. Wow, edge-of-the-seat television. Why not just hand out Little Red Books to everyone and call it a day?
Children are not wise. They are smart, don’t get me wrong, and they have bigger imaginations then any other age group. When I figure out how to invest I try to think in the terms that children think because everything is broken down into simple terms. But when you are trying to figure out how to run a city I would not elect anyone under the age of 35 for anything. I’m sorry, young people are just ignorant.
CBS knows this, that’s why they get these good-hearted children in there to promote this failed philosophy leftists lovingly call socialism. Who can say anything bad about children and get away with it? “Oh, look at that darling, she’s so cute. I wish our leaders were like that, everything would be better.” Gag me.
These kids couldn’t even figure out how to follow a recipe! They lost a portion of their supplies moving into the city because they are incompetent. And CBS has this J-hole of a host who pops up every once in a while to talk to the kids. It’s Kid Nation, leave them alone so they can figure it out for themselves! Plus, there’s this weekly $20,000 prize that is given out to the kid who does the best decided upon by the four leaders, just like in every other ghost town in America.
All the trappings of realism are suspended in this experiment. No serious observations can be made from a show like this because it is so unrealistic. The kids get money to spend on candy and bicycles; where are all these ghost towns with cool stuff? It would have been a heck of a lot more interesting if they just left the kids there to fend for themselves.
Give them food and shelter but that’s it. See what happens. But no, CBS has to guide them along making their politically ignorant points like the rich don’t work for their money and the only way society can work is if we all work together for the common good without need for any personal economic gain. Reinforcing socialist dogma like we’re all stuck in the class that we’re born into is disgusting to me because it is so false.
I just hope that for their next show they throw a bunch of bloggers into an abandoned city and see what happens. Wouldn’t you love to see what happens when the people at Hot Air go up against those at Daily Kos? I would definitely tune in for that. BigT

The reference to the Soviet Union is more apt than you know.
