Do Away with the NRA

There will never be a meaningful conversation about gun control until the last member of the NRA is shot by a crazed gunman like our "young gun" friend in Cleveland. I'll bet NRA members were pleased to see that such a teenager of his age was so adept at handling his firearms.

Talk to any of the card-carryin', gun-totin' goons of the NRA and you'll know why we should fear the organization and a good number of its members -- and why we should stop letting them and other exrtemist organizations operate openly or covertly in the US.

Minorities have for too long now been dictating how we will live in our "free" country. I'm not talking about ethnic minorities, but about groups like the NRA, atheists, the ACLU, foreigners, and all the other fringe elements who, because we live under the Constitution that we do, have the right to demand their own special set of priveleges at the expense of the majority.

This was evidenced no more clearly than a few years ago when a blind (oops, excuse me, I'm supposed to use the term "visually challenged") woman sued AOL saying it DISCRIMINATED against her by not providing handicapped accessible service -- for a BLIND PERSON!!! And I suppose her next target was the automakers for not manufacturing cars that drive themselves.

But I digress. No matter how many statistics are presented to show that countries who don't have the NRA and the ACLU fostering random acts like the one that took place October 10 in Cleveland, and who do exercise control over the availability of handguns, have FAR fewer violent deaths and FAR less violent crime than does "the greatest country in the world."

The US is a mess and today's headlines only prove it once again.

Oh, and may I add my name to the list of people who are delighted that the punk took his own life instead of wasting our time and money trying to make him all better and eventually letting him loose to attack again.

I'm sorry, but I strongly disagree with your comments regarding the NRA.  I am 13, & carry their card with me at all times.  Contrary to your opinion, members were NOT happy the guy was able to handle his gun.  Quite the opposite, in fact.  Yes, he shot up a bunch of people in a "gun-free" zone.  However, if a teacher, principal, or another young person had been armed with a gun, this entire situation could have been avoided.  Instead, one person runs around with a gun in an illegal place, & it's the NRA's fault.  Would passing more laws have stopped this crime?  Would shutting down the NRA stop it?  No.  This young man was determined to commit a crime, if he didn't have a gun, it would've been a knife, or some other weapon.  He didn't care how many laws he broke, as he killed himself anyway!  However, if even 1 teacher had been armed, they could have killed him upon the start of shooting.
