11/05/2007 Request Yahoo Buyer/Seller ID from consumer
11/05/2007 Complaint Received by BBB

Case Description:

My subject/target of complaint: Yahoo's Flickr Management. Flickr is an online community tool/property formerly independently Canadian owned, now owned by Yahoo, Inc. Flickr management and Yahoo PR refuse to respond to ANY communication. The complaint: my subscription fee has been stolen. Reasoning: i renewed my paying subscriber account for Flickr.com "Pro" service in June of 2007. In a dispute with another flickr subscriber who was harassing me, i entered into a dispute with flickr staff ("Michelle"). My attempts at reasoning with flickr staff were

ignored. They simply chose to "define" my actions as "violations" of flickr's "Terms Of Use" "agreement." They eventually deleted my account, which i have paid for in full, expiring in June of 2008. No refund has been offered, full or in part. No communication has been responded to. i have contacted their support about a dozen times with only automated responses. i have contacted Yahoo PR and one of the co-founders of Flickr, without response. i created a second "free" account on flickr to locate the members of the community i was previously "connected to" via my prior

account. i posted some of my photos that i had previously posted in the prior account as well as a few complaints in the forums. Tonight, i received notice that they deleted my account, again citing invalid reasoning (claiming my images violated the terms, yet these same images were in my previous account, which was REVIEWED by staff and

designated as SAFE).

Desired Resolution:

Customer's Desired Settlement - Posted: 10/03/2007

1. Reinstate my ORIGINAL "dysamoria" account at flickr.com, AS IT WAS PRIOR TO STAFF INVOLVEMENT.

Or:

2. Reinstate my ORIGINAL "dysamoria" account at flickr.com, AS IT WAS, but with the material they are

"disputing" blocked from the PUBLIC until an agreement can be reached with flickr staff on how to handle the

material in a way that does not violate this so-called agreement.

Or: 3. Provide me with a complete and full refund for

service fees paid (for time period June 2007 to June 2008).

*** We are waiting for the business to respond. They have until December 11, 2007 to respond to this complaint.***

the formatting problems with NowPublic's story entry fields are egregious and intolerable. i inserted valid HTML from Dreamweaver and not even the lines survived without breakage after submission. When will this be fixed??

Did you go into the straight html or just click in the box and paste? If it was the latter, our system will automatically try to 'fix' what it deems to be wrong. If it was in the html/source area, I don't know what to tell you...

straight HTML.

What ever happened? I filed a complaint the other day with Google for booting me form their adsense service because i was 'a threat to the service'. They haven't responded either. I wish you the best of luck!

i got the same 'customer care' as well... along with 4 other members whose accounts were deleted because one member of Flickr staff  http://www.flickr.com/photos/99871248@N00/

took umbrage at criticism of his work 'ethics'

Terrence P...

"I work for Flickr.
You must ask permission to see my photostream. I'm Male and Single. It's very sunny, USA"

Just like what the rest of us are seeing... flickr is run by arrogant people who have a pathological need to execute power over others, but who are unwilling to be an actual participating member of the community... ETHICALLY.

Yahoo bought flickr. You can't have a flickr account without a Yahoo account. Deleting your Yahoo ID disconnected your ID from your flickr account. You should take this up with the Yahoo or flickr people. Most likely they will ignore you or tell you that they can't do anything for you because [insert lie here].
