One Thing Is Certain, Michael Medved is a Lunatic

Unbelievably,
in 2007, there are still people who will defend slavery. Michael
Medved, the Political Pundit/Movie Critic has a column at Townhall.com called: "Six inconvenient truths about the U.S. and slavery". And you guest it, it is a defense of America's slave-holding history. Oh, and yes, it's as bad as you think it is.

This revisionist fiction Medved dares to present has incensed me. In it he details six of what he calls the "inconvenient truths" about slavery in relation to America which are (paraphrased)...

Thank you for bringing up Michael Medved! Although I haven't heard (or read) his comments on slavery, I've been tuning into his talk-show throughout the years and I'm quite familiar with his spiel. I've been a registered Republican since 1980. With that said, it's guys like Medved that have (in my opinion), helped to destroy the Republican party through their blind adherence to idealogy and dogma. Medved, back in the day, was a liberal/progressive and evolved (or devolved as the case may be) into a "conservative" Republican. But he's really a Neo-Con that spends much of his talk-show time RAH-RAHING the Republican Party and banging the war drum at the slightest perceived threat. I find it curious that guys like Medved, who grew up in an upper middle-class family (his father was a physicist) and received a draft deferment during the Vietnam War, are the ones to bang the war-drums the loudest. In virtually all of his shows, Medved devotes some air-time to dismissing (and often insulting) those callers that believe a viable third-party would be beneficial to America. His term for third-parties and third-party candidates is "losers". It's obvious that Medved is indeed mired in the staus quo and lacks the ability to think outside of the box, as it were (just like the Republican Party). Medved is also consumed with the state of Israel and spends much of his time talking about Israel. I, myself, am a supporter of Israel. However Medved is fanatical in his belief that Israel can do no wrong. Moreover, Medved believes, whole-heartedly, in laissez faire capitalism and caveat emptor along with deregulation of virtually every industry throughout the United States. And along those lines, he has no problem (in the name of "free-trade") with American jobs being shipped overseas, or American workers forced to compete with virtual slave-labor as it exists in places such as China. As to the "minimum wage" law, Medved would like nothing better than to see it repealed. And Medved has nothing but utter contempt for unions because he believes that workers need only take the initiative, on an individual basis no less, and bargain with their employers for higher wages, better benefits, and better working conditions. And if the employer is not receptive to the the employee's "bargaining", then it's no sweat for the employee.--he or she only need look for a better job! In Medved's eyes, things are quite simple and oh so black and white! With the above said, I don't even have to read or hear Michael Medved's comments on slavery because I already know what they are just by listening to his talk-show. Medved is no different in his views from Rush Limbaugh, Shaun Hannity, et. al. He's just more unctuous and sarcastic . . . .
