savage and primitive medicine

Originally posted on my blog, Sunday, June 04, 2006

eight days in an oppressive facility
barbarism, practiced by sociopathic cave dwellers
with medical doctorates and nursing certifications

aside from a sprinkling of actual human beings
giving empathetic and genuine sincerity,
the rest: mere assembly line machinary; rivets here, there, on schedule, or else.

short term care facility...

"today marks one month for me" says one patient

"I've had ECT six times" says another

(tomorrow will be number seven, her second "last ECT treatment before she can leave")

tonight, at the bequest of those who care for me
my brain, deadlocked, i cried as a child; they're right; i'm impotent and broken
i must withdraw my hand of help to the victim of help, breaking my heart

what will it do to her?
hope is everything to the hopeless
i feel my own drowning even now

lonesome fool

i spoke with five seemingly important people re the barbarism of ECT
none will do [expletive] anything; i am left an outraged failure.
i am not a fool and i'm not crying wolf; why will they do nothing?

the entire facility should be shut down. a giant kill box
proffering drugs, electrocution, personality destruction, and threats.

"help me, i feel like cutting myself" is met with threats by staff and nurses.
a fellow patient sits down with her and asks her about her hydration levels
food intake for the day. nicotine levels, mood, etc. staff and nurses threaten.
WTF is wrong with this picture and WTF am i the only one seeing it?

i felt trapped in the savage maw of monstrous evil when the doors closed
separating me from the outside, eight days ago
i felt sharp shooters ready to shoot me down while crossing the
threashold to the outside, friday, two days
ago. "don't let him tell
the outside world about what goes on in here," they must be thinking.

the ugly looks and treatment i received and observed...

it's all wrong.
the jokes are not sufficient: "nurse ratchet," "one flew over the coocoo's nest," "inmates running the assylum" etc...

why will no one do anything? oh, we can't jeapardize our precious jobs.
not in this economy. not in this country. not with this king running
this government where thought and thinking and questioning the status
quo are all badthink.

save her

goddamn it

i don't care what she's done or not done

save her

she's too young to have her brain burned up by an arrogant [expletive]
with an MD and superiority complex so brazen and malignant that he
cannot even address strangers (or his own patients) with simple common
courtesy.

(dedicated to Dana and all other victims of the savage and brutal "Electro Convulsive Therapy" quackery)
