SFU Library: A Place for Fun?
To many, a library is a quiet place filled with books and reference materials and people studying. On the other hand, to some others, it seems quite the opposite.
The SFU Surrey Library, formally known as the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board Academic Library, has a few team study rooms available to students who wish to study, learn, and work as a group. These rooms, being in the library, would naturally have maintain a low level of noise. However, as stated above, some people tend to neglect this rule.
There have been groups of people renting these rooms who dont seem to be using it for work purposes at all. Many times, people (including myself) find themselves trying to shun the constant noise of chatter and laughter coming from the rooms, as well as the loud volume of music, movies, and video clips erupting from student's laptops.
People who have been bothered by these unwelcome disruptions would agree that the Library is definitely no place for these types of activities. (The games room would be an ideal place for most of these, though!)
Bottom Line: It would be great if other people would more considerate and respectful for others and for the library/learning environment.
