I guess the editors of the treasonous New York Times don't realize that "Home of the Brave" was just another in a series of unpopular, anti-Iraq War movies. The theme of "Home of the Brave" is that every returning Iraq War veteran suffers serious, sometimes murderous, mental problems. You idiots at the Times, it was a movie!!!!

SMEARING SOLDIERS
By RALPH PETERS, New York Post, 1/15/08 (Excerpt)

January 15, 2008 -- THE New York Times is trashing our troops again. With no new "atrocities" to report from Iraq for many a month, the limping Gray Lady turned to the home front. Front and center, above the fold, on the front page of Sunday's Times, the week's feature story sought to convince Americans that combat experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan are turning troops into murderers when they come home.

Heart-wringing tales of madness and murder not only made the front page, but filled two entire centerfold pages and spilled onto a fourth.

The Times did get one basic fact right: Returning vets committed or are charged with 121 murders in the United States since our current wars began.

Had the Times' "journalists" and editors bothered to put those figures in context - which they carefully avoided doing - they would've found that the murder rate that leaves them so aghast means that our vets are five times less likely to commit a murder than their demographic peers.

The Times' public editor, Clark Hoyt, should crunch the numbers. I'm even willing to spot the Times a few percentage points (either way). But the hard statistics from the Justice Department tell a far different tale from the Times' anti-military propaganda.

A very conservative estimate of how many different service members have passed through Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait since 2003 is 350,000 (and no, that's not double-counting those with repeated tours of duty).

Now consider the Justice Department's numbers for murders committed by all Americans aged 18 to 34 - the key group for our men and women in uniform. To match the homicide rate of their peers, our troops would've had to come home and commit about 150 murders a year, for a total of 700 to 750 murders between 2003 and the end of 2007.

In other words, the Times unwittingly makes the case that military service reduces the likelihood of a young man or woman committing a murder by 80 percent....

Those on the left will never accept that the finest young Americans are those who risk their lives defending freedom. Sen. John Kerry summed up the views of the left perfectly when he disparaged our troops as too stupid to do anything but sling hamburgers.

And The New York Times will never forgive our men and women in uniform for their infuriating successes in Iraq

There is ample proof of your cowardly soldiers committing crimes in Iraq.  Here is a video of soldiers 'lighting up' innocent civilians who just happen to be driving past.  Oh yes, brave courageous 'patriots' all!

You owe your freedom to spout such garbage to these brave soldiers and to the many who preceded them.

I don't owe my freedom nor that of my country to you or your country.

Your country attempted to invade mine and we had to come down and burn your original Whitehouse and drive you back. The USA didn't even get into the second world war until everyone else had done the heavy lifting and they could waltz in and take the money and the glory.

Your country is the greatest impediment to freedom in the history of this planet.

If the activities portrayed by the "soldiers", read murderers, in this video is what you consider brave or honorable then what does that say about you?

Why did you take the video down Joel?

And by the way I didn't 'spout' anything.  I simply pointed to the access, which was already available to a real film that was created by one of 'your boys'.

I have been to a very poor doctor.  When I get injured, I still go to the hospital.   I am a Veteran, worked in Psychology during the Gulf War.  Later I worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs.  Veterans, as a group,  are less violent then similar groups of non-veterans.  I actually felt safer on the PTSD floor then I did when I went outside to get in my car.

Moonwolf, Childish flaming comments ruin the essence of discussion. You take a video out of context and add "ALL"  like saying all Americans Soldiers are out murdering civilians and laughing about it. The same thing with Global Warming. You show no respect for the NP poster by not engaging him in inteligent conversation. The point is to insult as many people as possibile who do not adhere to your hatred of anything American. What kind of debate can one have when the first thing out of your mouth is "I'm right look at the video and by the way I  hate you." There can be no debate with you moonwolf if you let your hatred cloud your judgement. You need to get over it ...the U.S. won the Cold War..so sad......

P.S. You will be hard pressed to find a military man who has been in battle against the American Soldier to agree with you that the American Soldiers are cowards.

Thanks, mpress, you have obviously read other rants by a person whose hatred is palpable for Americans, Jews, conservatives and traditional values.  There is no point in debating him directly; his intent is always to try to provole you into making an unwise comment.

I suppose using the term 'treasonous'  and 'idiots' in the preamble to this rant are examples of what you would consider reasonable discussion, or that such terms would be allowed in any form of real 'debate'.

I hate no one because of their country, race, religion, or supposed 'traditional values' which, if you would do some reading you would find have nothing to do with what is going on today.

I just hate killers who think they can bully and attack other people and countries simply because they say they are right, and I have the same sentiments for those who support these killers.

Mpress,

There was no discussion with the Iraqi's going home that day.  There was no discussion with their wives and children.  There was no discussion with Iraqis before the illegal invasion, and there is still no discussion today, just unilateral destruction.

Why is it everyone but Americans must abide by a different set of rules?

I would love you to explain the 'context' of this video in any sane way, and by the way there is an endless stream of similar, even worse proof available if you want.

You would be hard pressed to find a military man outside the USA who wouldn't call American soldiers cowards.  I have spoken to many WW2 Canadian and British soldiers who have confirmed this.

The only time your armed forces aren't cowards are when they have overwhelming firepower and numbers.

There isn't a battle in recorded history where it has been otherwise.

You can try and just pass this off to my supposed hatred for America, but I reflect the feelings of almost everyone outside your country and many within it.

I don't hate America.  I hate what America has become, what it is doing, and what it has decided to stand for, and I couldn't care less about your need for politically correct discussion.

Call off your Dogs of War and then we can have that 'discussion'.  Until then I will use every peaceful, non-violent means within my grasp to render your country harmless.  You are after all the perveyors of 'free speech' aren't you?

I notice you make no mention of Joel's flaming in your comment because you agree with him.

Okay, this just a silly and ridiculous thing to say.  My dad fought in Vietnam; not because he wanted to, but because he couldn't conceive of running and hiding in your country.  I'd put him in the ring with you any day, whether it comes to honor or bravery.

He also disagrees entirely with this war in Iraq and speaks out against it.  You're one toke over the line with this nutty generalization.

If you don't choose your enemies wisely, you're just a guy looking for a balcony.

joellerose, I like this story. It's
good stuff. Statistics are often used to develop a story that isn't.
Citizen Journalists will do well by becoming, "Fact Checkers"
exposing those who use data inappropriately.
