I didn't fly in from Sweden, but I marched in Jena in spirit.  I was proud that as an AfroSphere blogger I helped spread the word about the Jena 6.  Al and Jesse were there.  The masses were there.  Students, parents, working people marched.  The world watched.  Okay, that was 3 days ago.

Fellow AfroSpear blogger Shawn Williams from the Dalls South blog was our man on the ground in Jena.  Read here for to find out why Shawn went and for a suggestion from Francis Holland on what to do now.

ageorgegal, I think your story has potential but needs some improvement. I've got a few suggestions, and if you give them a try, I'd be happy to remove this flag.

I wasnt sure what was newsworthy in this story. News should always be about posting current stuff - new things you've discovered.

Please review What Makes News News. It can really help ify ou follow the old "W5" news formula -- making sure you have answered the questions: Who? What? Where? When? And Why? (You might want to check out our J-Tips for more help.)

In essence, there's no story here--just an attempt to direct traffic to your blog. Did you know that you can post material here and on your blog simultaneously? We have a widget for that.  Although it's appreciated that you posted this in Opinions, still there needs to be more meat on the bones here, rather than just a traffic sign to a blog.

PEP, thanks for your message.

Do you have a tool for deleting a story?

If so, please let me know how what it is.

I thought Shawn's story as a blogger, organizer and participant in the Jena 6 march along with Francis' analysis of what do to behind the judges latest decision in the Jena case was newsworthy.

Feel free to reomve this story based on your comment.

Take care!

I dunno, I see why PEP flagged this, but I see it as tying into ageorgegal's other postings on the topic. Rather than delete this, if it were me, I'd either link to some of the other Jena-6- and black-blogger*-related stuff on NowPublic or reintroduce this as a comment attached to another article...

Then again, if it were me, I'd also be in Sweden, so there we are...

(* Afroshpere! I just knew there was a catchy term waiting to emerge! "Digital Diaspora" takes too long to say)

ageorgegal, thanks for improving your story -- I can see you've put more effort into it. I've removed the flag and now more readers can see it. Thanks for your contribution.

I see that you've put more context into it so that we know that you are directing people to read original commentary on the march from someone "on the ground."

Now, is there any chance that Shawn Williams can post his material here at NowPublic? I think he'd be a very valuable contributor, and would love to see more.

Thanks again for working with us.

Thanks PEP!

I will ask Shawn to do just that, post his field reports from the march here on Now Public.  I'll send him the link to this post as well.

Cheers,

Adrianne

ageorgegal, thank you for this...great stuff. This seems like a real community builder for African American bloggers (or the Afrosphere, as Jordan suggested). Do you feel that, as a blogger in the community? It would be interesting to do a story about this...do you have any interest in that? Send me a message.
