The definition of 'organic' already allows for processed fishmeal even if it contains toxic synthetic  substances and growth hormones and antibiotics if it was a year ago.   Now the USDA is considering expanding 'organic' to mean 38 more artificial substances if the manufacturer states they can't find an organic version.

Have a comment on keeping 'organic' food organic?  The USDA wants to hear from you.  Link and instructions in the article.

I am not a huge organic food person but I do think words should mean what we think they mean - everyone on a social news site can probably agree with that. If they continue to do this we'll have to start labelling products with different levels of 'organic' - 'Mostly organic', 'virtually organic', etc.

We can't even fall back on 'all natural', since that can mean anything we want also. If you want to comment on this to the USDA you can do it online, but it's complicated to find the listing, like all government things they don't want you to find out where they are. Instructions are in the article.
