Ouch!!!! Visiting a Cuban Hospital

Michael Moore praises the Cuban hospitals in his latest crockumentary "Sicko". He say its Free! Well Cyber ink has some testimonials from Cubans on the island and in MIami. Now of course some do not want us to divulge their identity for fear of losing their food rations or worse getting that dreaded knock on the door and thrown in a Cuban jail with no Human Rights.
The first person we spoke to was not afraid to reveal his identity his name
is Arnaldo Gutierez, he now lives in Miami and only had this to say. " when i had my Appendicitis there was no ambulance,  they threw me in the back of a wooden wheel barrel and rushed me to Carlos J. Finlay Hospital", Carlos J. Finlay  was the first to theorize in 1881 that a mosquito was the way by which yellow fever was transmitted.
Arnaldo also says he had to take his own bed sheets, needles (for fear of
HIV), and food. He said the room was filthy and had to take a fan because the heat was unbearable. To go to the Hospital for government officials he would of had to pay. Which no average Cuban can do without help from family members in Miami.
Some of our sources in the Holguin province say because of lack of detergent they have been using toothpaste to clean hospital linens, One unnamed doctor said "It’s nauseating the situation places even the health of hospital personnel at risk due to poor disinfection.

By way of contrast, hospitals in the area attending to foreign patients have all the necessary resources to properly wash and disinfect linens. (Cubanet).
from our source (The Real Cuba) we get this "  One of the greatest fallacies about the so called 'Cuban Revolution' has to do with healthcare.

Foreigners who visit Cuba, are fed the official line from Castro's propaganda machine: "All Cubans are now able to receive excellent healthcare, which is also free." But the truth is very different. Castro has built excellent health facilities for the use of foreigners, who pay with hard currency for those services.

Argentinean soccer star Maradona, for example, has traveled several times to Cuba to receive treatment to combat his drug addiction. But Cubans are not even allowed to visit those facilities. Cubans who require medical attention must go to other hospitals, that lack the most minimum requirements needed to take care of their patients.

In addition, most of these facilities are filthy and patients have to bring their own towels, bed sheets, pillows, or they would have to lay down on dirty bare mattresses stained with blood and other body fluid'.
We got this from (The Cigar Lounge) " an acquaintance in CA, and I sometimes mule some stuff down for his friend. She got sick and went from 120 lbs to 80 lbs. Did not have the energy to get out of bed. She went to 2 cuban hospitals (remember that Hermanos Almejeiras Hospital is for foreigners). Both of the cuban doctors said that nothing major was wrong and each told her the same treatment........ eat quail eggs. Yep that's right.... quail eggs. My friend found out about all this and paid to get her into Hermanos Almejeiras Hospital, and the doctor there looked at the chart and immediately saw she had a particular parasite from the water and they started treatments".
Hermanos Almejeiras Hospital is sometimes considered as a free hospital when it is really a dollar hospital. It is for foreigners and you need to pay some money (much much less than the US of course) for services. It is not free to everyone. Of course, being a government hospital, they can provide free services to who they want, but for normal folk, there is a charge.
As for all those Celebrities and Gays who are so concerned about those infected with HIV we get this.
A patient at an AIDS sanatorium in Menocal, Havana province, complained here that sanitation at the facility is so poor that it imperils patients' lives.
"The water is contaminated with trash, stones, and leaves. The tanks are not cleaned and neither is the drinking water boiled. One can often see cats, dogs, and even cattle ambling through the kitchens and dining area," said Frank Leal.
Leal, who said he had been struck with diarrhea along with other patients recently, pointed out a sample of what he said was the sugar used at the hospital. It was noticeably contaminated with foreign particles.
There are more than 100 patients at the sanatorium

And then we have to hear many Castro apologists talking about the "wonderful health facilities" that Castro has built for the Cuban people. And we also have to hear other useful idiots who blame the embargo for everything that is wrong in Castro's Cuba. It is not the embargo. It's the mismanagement, the stupidity and the corruption that are an integral part of this illegal regime that has been destroying Cuba for 48 years.

It seems incredible that there are so many journalists who swallow Fidel's story and ignore the plight of the average Cuban. It is criminal that people who are always saying they studied Journalism to "make a diffrence" ignore the suffering just 90 miles away. CNN is afraid or forbidden to visit the hospitals in Cuba, They have sold their souls to have access in Cuba. They know if they report the truth Fidel would kick their cowardly asses out of Cuba,

Good Stuff, as I mentioned many times before in Now Public, it seems like mainstream media never ask the tough questions for fear of future access to governments and big business, resulting in one sided reporting that the Public swallow time and time again.  When others accuse media of being left and liberal or conservative there is a certain grain of truth behind it.  It may not be the reporters choice what is printed but the biased editors or newspaper masters who control ther paycheque. If the media asked those "Damn the Torpedo Questions" and reported all angles, there would be no Now Public and the host of Contributors who reseach, investigate and question everything they read instead of cutting and pasting biased media stories from others.

Ouch!!!!! What happen to all the wonderful advantages of the socialist elite? I am shocked that a country that prides itself in its great social equality is so, well, unSocial! Are you sure these reports are from the same tropical paradise that is responsible for bringing the world such advancements as spending nothing on infrastucture, silencing opposing opinions and making everyone happy about not having choices. Seems to me that you make way too much about things like cleanliness in hospitals, the places are already filled with sick people what's the big deal about cleaning the sheets. As for the animals roaming the halls, everyone knows that a nice visit with a pet is just what some patients need to turn their condition around. Heck, Castro himself is a shining example of how wonderful the health care system is, he has been recovering for the last 12 months and should be able to go home some time next year if he continues improving so well. Most U.S. hospitals would have sent him home healthy months ago with the crap healthcare provided here. So, I am going to ask some of my well informed Socially Concerned wealthy friends on the west coast if any of it is true. Even Chavez' has had some work done while in Cuba, I saw a picture of him just the other day and his ass looked just like Sean Penn! This is a cosmetic miracle!

I'm thinking that Mr. Moore delights in hyperbole to get his point across, which was, I believe, the fact that 50 million Americans are without health insurance. Comparing the foreign policy of David vs. Goliath clouds the real issue that Moore drives home. This is a good piece to provoke debate.

You mean *gasp* Michael Moore wouldn't tell the truth. He has an agenda? Say it ain't so...the main stream media never told us this. Next thing you know we will find out the Al Gore profits from the global warming hysteria.
