In what is supposed to be dubbed a family friendly festival--the Basant Kite Festival in Lahore, Pakistan--over a dozen people have died and hundreds have been injured during an annual kite festival. The kite flyers use strings made of wire or coated with glass to try cross and cut a rival's string. Also, celebratory shots that are fired into the air have injured people.

At least 11 people died and more than 100 people were injured at an annual spring festival in eastern Pakistan celebrated with the flying of thousands of colourful kites,
